I'm about to be mean [what else is new] so theres the warning.

This is something I did not expect you to do. You became caught up in the fact that it is, in fact, a face. It is a beginners mistake.

The mistake probably came from your past experiences drawing faces, and your own self consciousness telling you what should be. When you look at yourself, and then draw yourself, you find yourself analyzing... yourself. Is my nose really that shape? How dark should I make my lips?

The fact that you are treating them as lips, and noses and eyes has lead to your face becoming unsymmetrical, and unbalanced as to the shape of your head.

Treat the face the way you did the bag. All you've done here, is taken what you look like, and applied it to a pre-conceived notion of how a face should look. When in reality NO FACE is ever the way your face looks at that very moment you are drawing it.

It is a unique, exquisite moment in time that cannot be captured by the mind. All the mind can do is transfer the information from your eye, to your hand to record it. The human memory is weak. You lose almost 50% of the information that your eye receives just from looking away from the subject, to your drawing.

as far as the drawing goes, your hair needs highlights, your ears need shadow, and you need to take a long look at the structure of the human eye. They are absolutely round in nature, and it is the skin around the eye, encasing it, that gives it any sort of curve or crease. Also. Don't be careless when it comes to your guide lines, such as the ones you made to structure out your face. had they not been there, i would've had a much harder time seeing that your face was misplaced.

If you are willing to take another assignment, then do what i was made to do, and go draw people. Not yourself. Cause all drawing yourself is going to do is frustrate your self esteem.

Family members work if they support your art enough to stand still. But if they don't then a cafe or library are other good options. any place where people go to sit and do work. Generally they have their head in a constant position, reading or typing, and you can take good, long looks at bone structure, muscle structure, skin and lighting.

If such is the case, then allow me to try again. Thanks for the pointers :D
